| Tell us More: | The National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin is teaming up with Westmoor Country Club and Crest Cadillac to announce the return of the Cadillac Invitational Golf Tournament on Monday, August 3, 2009.
The Cadillac Invitational held at the newly renovated Westmoor Country Club is one link in the nationwide series of 40 amateur tournaments being held across the country. The tournament is open to all amateur golfers with two divisions of play, Competitive and Non-Competitive. The winning “Competitive Division” foursome and second-place qualifiers will be invited to compete in the Cadillac Invitational National Finals at Florida’s famed TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Verda Beach. Eligible teams in the Competitive Division consist of four amateur players whose USGA Handicap Indexes total 43.0 or more, and only one golfer on each team may have a Handicap Index of 8.0 or less. Golfers participating in the “Non-Competitive” Division will compete for local prizes and all skill levels are invited! Foursomes, twosomes, and individual golfers are welcome in the afternoon shotgun and scramble event. The foursome team entry fee is $1,600 for the Competitive Division or $1,400 for the Non-Competitive Division, a portion of which is tax deductible, and helps support the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin. Team entry fees include premium golf gift bags, driving range access, lunch, on-course hospitality, awards reception and dinner, and of course, a great round of golf at Westmoor Country Club! For every dollar contributed, 84 cents is donated to patient programs and services available to all affected by organ donation, diabetes, high blood pressure, or kidney disease. In addition, the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin provides public and professional education and funds life saving research. The National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin was founded forty years ago by a group of physicians and family members. It is dedicated to the prevention of kidney and urinary tract disease, improving the health and well-being of patients and families affected by these diseases and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation. | It is with great pleasure that we annouce the 2010 Greater PEATC Open. Located at Mattaponi Springs Golf Club, the new upscale public course was ranked by Golf Digest as number one in Virginia and second in the nation among new courses!
As Virgina’s Parent Training and Information Center since 1978, the Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center (PEATC) has seen the powerful results when families and professionals work in partnership to build better futures for children with disabilities. Over the years, many hopes and dreams for children with disabilities have turned distant possibilities into meaningful realities. PEATC has learned from these successes, having worked at the local community and state-levels promoting opportunities for inclusion and curriculum adaptations, culturally competent and family centered services, literacy, seamless transitions and self determination. PEATC partners with numerous state and local community and faith-based organizations, schools, businesses, colleges and universities, and advocacy organizations reaching and supporting families and professionals across the Commonwealth. National dissemination centers, university programs, nationally- recognized experts, are all numbered PEATC collaborators as we ensure families and professionals are receiving and connecting with evidence- based practices that lead to success for students with disabilities. PEATC does everything within its power to give the very best it has to offer to Virginia’s families and at absolutely NO COST to them. How do we do this? Via grants and donations and always with our fingers crossed while saying a prayer. This is where we need your help as a non-profit 501(c )(3). Because we only give the very best services to the Commonwealth citizens of Virginia, we wanted you to be able to play at Virginia’s very best public golf course Mattaponi Golf Club. Mattaponi’s layout features a masterful blend of dramatic muti-tiered fairways and challenging risk-reward holes. Signature holes abound, including the split fairway par 4-11th. A tee shot to the left fairway provides a gracious landing area, but a difficult approach to the left-angled green. A drive to the right, while risky, shortens the approach by 20 yards, and provides a welcoming angle onto the green. Golf and individuals with disabilities quite often get asked the same question, especially if someone doesn’t know, “What’s your handicap?” Quite ironic, isn’t it? And the very reason we are requesting your support in our tournament. Many of the grants are being taken away and the last thing we want to do is limit our services to Virginia’s families. We have a sponsorship package to fit just about any budget and remember, because PEATC is a 501(c)(3) charity, your sponsorship is tax deductible! Please come and join us for a wonderful day of golf, while supporting a great community event and great prizes on the 2nd of October, along with the beauty of the changing of the leaves and crisp fall air on Virginia’s #1 public golf course and #2 in the Nation, Mattaponi Springs! Sincerely, Suzanne Hill Chairperson 2010 Greater PEATC Open |

HistoryThe Jimmy Fund started in 1948 when the Variety Club of New England (now the Variety Children’s Charity of New England) and the Boston Braves baseball team joined forces to help a 12-year-old cancer patient dubbed “Jimmy.” On a national radio broadcast, millions heard the boy visit with his heroes from the Braves as they stood by his hospital bed. Contributions poured in from people everywhere, launching an effort that continues to bring hope to thousands of children and adults facing cancer throughout the world. Join this more than 50-year tradition of support by making a gift to the Jimmy Fund. Milestones in the history of the Jimmy Fund1948The Jimmy Fund is launched with the help of the Variety Club of New England (now the Variety Children’s Charity of New England). The club organizes a radio broadcast from the bedside of a young cancer patient dubbed Jimmy as he is visited by members of the Boston Braves baseball team. Contributions pour in to buy Jimmy a television set so he can watch the Braves play. 1949The Jimmy Fund/Variety Children’s Charity Theater Program begins. 1953Boston Red Sox owners Tom and Jean Yawkey adopt the Jimmy Fund as the team’s official charity when the Braves move to Milwaukee. The Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association also names the Jimmy Fund as its official charity. 1967The 1967 Boston Red Sox “Impossible Dream Team” votes to give the Jimmy Fund a share of its winnings from the World Series. 1977The first Jimmy Fund council, the Jimmy Fund Council of Greater Boston, is established. Learn more 1980The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, the cross-state bicycle ride that has grown into the Jimmy Fund’s single largest fundraising event, is founded. 1983The first annual Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl® ice cream extravaganza is held on the Boston Common. Jimmy Fund Golf is officially organized. 1989The Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk begins with help from Boston Marathon organizers, the Boston Athletic Association. 1991Stop & Shop teams up with the Boston Red Sox to raise $1 million through the Triple Winner Game, a scratch card game that Stop & Shop customers can play by contributing $1 to the Jimmy Fund. 1998The Jimmy Fund celebrates 50 years of progress in the fight against cancer. Just in time for the celebration, Einar Gustafson, the original “Jimmy,” who gave the charity its name, returns to Dana-Farber. A symbol of hope for thousands of children and adults in their fight against cancer, “Jimmy” attended numerous events, becoming a faithful supporter of the Jimmy Fund until his death at age 65 in January 2001. 2000Joining Stop & Shop in supporting the Jimmy Fund through cause marketing are Jiffy Lube (1997), Taco Bell (1999), Dunkin’ Donuts (1999), Hyundai Motor America (2000), and Burger King Restaurants (2000). 2002The inaugural WEEI Jimmy Fund Radiothon raises more than $325,000. In 2003, NESN joins the event and turns it into a radio-telethon. 2005The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge leads the nation in dollars raised by an athletic fundraising event by presenting $23 million to the Jimmy Fund. 2008The 7th annual WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon reaches new heights when people from all 50 states and around the world pledge more than $4.8 million. The 29th annual Pan Massachusetts Challenge generates $35 million in support of cancer research and care at Dana-Farber, more than twice the amount ever raised for a charity by an athletic fundraising event in the country. TodayThe efforts of hundreds of thousands of dedicated Jimmy Fund supporters continue to allow Dana-Farber to make remarkable progress in the fight against cancer. Please join us today. | Tell us More: | In June of 2007, Andy Kusma’s goals were straightforward: Win his battle against stage IV pancreatic cancer, and run – once more – with his daughter in the Broad Street run in Philadelphia. Sadly, he died Christmas Day of that same year. He was 57.
Andy Kusma was an athlete. He was training with his daughter to run a marathon when he became ill. Worse, when he was diagnosed, the cancer had already spread to his liver. It is a silent killer. To date there are no diagnostic tools or tests for early detection of pancreatic cancer, with your help, half of the proceeds will be presented to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network ( www.pancan.org, 501(c)(3) eligible) in Andy’s name for much needed research and awareness. The network is a nationwide network of people dedicated to working together to advance research, support patients and create hope for those afflicted by pancreatic cancer. The network’s funds are used towards private funding of research and advocate for more aggressive federal research funding medical breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The balance of the proceeds will be given to the Andy Kusma NPAAA Scholarship Fund (www.npaaa.org, exemption number 5322). The mission of this Association shall be to uphold the standards and prestige of the North Penn High School athletic program and to encourage and promote higher education through scholarship awards to those athletes who demonstrate courage and sacrifice during their athletic careers. In addition, a hall of fame has been established to recognize those alumni from North Penn High School and its legacy schools who best exemplified those high standards while participating in athletics in high school. Andy will be inducted into North Penn Athletic Alumni Association Hall Of Fame the Saturday (October 10, 2009) following the golf tournament you are being asked to help sponsor. Andy lived his life for his family, his job and the opportunity to participate in all-things athletic. He often golfed when he was too ill to drive himself to the golf course, simply because it took his mind off the fact he was dying from a cancer he believed to be the ‘forgotten cancer.’ Help us create awareness, promote research and honor a life. Pancreatic cancer needs your support. Donations can be sent to: Andy Kusma NPAAA/PanCAN Golf Tournament, c/o Malle Kusma, 1051 Nash Ave., Lansdale, PA 19446 |

| ParFore Charity is non-profit charity that provides annual monetary support to another non-profit charity in the Omaha metropolitan area.
ParFore Charity held its first golf tournament in June of 2008. The tournament was started as a slight to my brother-in-law. Since 2004 he has hosted a “men only” tournament and has refused to let women play. So, I decided to start my own tournament and make it a charity event, and the only way men can play is if they pay double the entry fee and play in a skirt. Since then the organization has taken on a position of service to our local community. To date ParFore Charity has donated over $1800.00 to charities in the Omaha Metropolitan area. The tournament has also proven to be great event that allows the lady golfers to spend a few hours building social capital, sharing thoughts and ideas, without the interruption from the demands of daily family life. The winning charity is determined in a drawing. Each player writes down the name of a local non-profit charity and a winner is drawn at the end of the tournament. We feel this allows every charity an equal chance of winning. $10.00 of each entry fee, plus money raised through the sale of raffle tickets, mulligan’s, and birdie holes, goes to the winning non-profit charity. |
