The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) will honor Seth E. Ellis, managing partner at Ellis Law Group P.L., Boca Raton, FL, at its first annual golf outing in Miami on December 5.

AFA will hold “Care on the Fairways” at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa, winner of the four diamond award from AAA. The event includes golf on the resort’s blue monster course, brunch, a silent auction, cocktail reception and awards dinner.

The event will raise funds to support AFA’s programs and services that focus on the practical, educational and financial needs of the growing number of families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related illnesses both locally and nationally.

Ellis, who resides in Delray Beach, FL, has worked for many years with families whose loved ones are living with this heartbreaking disease.

Healing Heroes Network is a national 501 (c) 3 non-profit charity founded in 2008, with headquarters in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. HHN is committed to healing America’s heroes by providing financial assistance for quality medical care to the men and women of the armed forces injured in the line of duty in Iraq or Afghanistan, on or after 9/11/2001. Our nationwide network of medical professionals willing to provide services, along with donations from our generous supporters, enables HHN to treat these brave wounded warriors free of charge, for services delayed, not covered, or not approved under the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs benefit systems. The Rotary Club of Brooksville is looking for teams to play in its Annual Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament will be held on December 7th, 2011 at the Brooksville Country Club at Majestic Oaks.

Play will begin at 1:00 PM with a shotgun start and will be played in scramble format.

Seeing a dire need to create an institution to help cure children with cancer and other terminal illnesses, the late entertainer, Danny Thomas, founded St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Since opening its doors in 1962, St. Jude has become known as one of the most trustworthy charities and one of the most formidable children’s research hospitals in the world.

Following Danny Thomas’ dream that ‘no child should die in the dawn of life,’ St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center that does not deny treatment due to a family’s inability to pay. No child is ever turned away because of financial reasons or lack of insurance. On average, over 5000 children visit the hospital each year and upwards of 200 children receive treatment every day.

Although 81 cents of every dollar goes directly to research, St. Jude still needs help. Theta Phi Alpha is committed to helping and we are asking for your support too. The Twenty Pearls Foundation was established in July of 2006 after members of the Mu Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority saw an opportunity to transform the Gainesville/Alachua County Community through expanded scholarships, services and programs. Paws 4 You Rescue, a not-for-profit animal rescue organization, will be hosting its 5th annual Putt 4 Paws Golf Tournament on Friday, July 22 at the prestigious Doral Golf Resort & Spa, 4400 NW 87th Ave in Miami. Registration for the golf tournament will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. A reception will be held afterward from 6 to 7 p.m.

This event raises much needed funds for the animals saved by Paws 4 You which include those that are sick, injured, homeless, lost or surrendered. The organization gives these animals a safe environment, professional medical care, training, support, hope and lots of love. Its’ animals are sterilized, vaccinated and ID micro-chipped to prevent future loss.

Miami is faced with a severe pet overpopulation crisis, leading to the euthanasia of approximately 100 animals every day at the Miami-Dade County’s Animal Services facility.

The cost for Putt 4 Paws at Doral is $800 for a foursome and registrations are due by Monday, July 18. Paws 4 You is also seeking tournament sponsors at the $3,000, $1,500 (both include a foursome), $500, and $100 levels.

Mt. Dora Country Club in Mt. Dora, FL. The tournament is raising money for

Jyllean Williams who was diagnosed with Mercury poisoning three years ago and

has since developed Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and Epstein Barr Virus. At

just 25 years of age, her life has literally been taken away from her. The

symptoms Jyllean has are horrible. Her body can’t physically handle being around
a lot of people or toxic smells. Thus, she is basically homebound except for her
numerous doctor visits.
The tournament is going to be a four person team scramble format. Check-in will

begin at 7:30 am followed by an 8:00 am shotgun start. The price per golfer is

$60 and includes cart & green fees, golf bag valet, range balls, snacks and

beverages. There will also be a silent auction and raffle drawings taking place.
When Jyllean was diagnosed with Mercury toxicity, she was put on a very strict

high fat, organic diet. She can only eat natural, organic chicken and certain

raw, organic vegetables (those only grown above the ground). Jyllean can’t use

or be around anyone that has used regular fabric softeners, colognes, perfumes,

candles, shampoos, etc… (only non-scented, non-toxic).
Jyllean is also on around thirty-five different medications and supplements a

day, takes IV treatments two times a week, undergoes physical therapy once a

week,  and is on oxygen three hours each day. None of these medications or

treatments is or ever was covered by insurance; every cost in incurred out of

pocket. We are very thankful to have been seeing slight improvements recently

and desperatly need the help in being able to continue with her treatments to

hopefully one day have Jyllean be able to live a normal life.  Please come out

About St. Matthew’s House

The mission of St. Matthew’s House (SMH) is to change lives in a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined, as well as providing housing for the homeless and food for the needy. A 501(c)(3) non-profit entity, SMH, along with Immokalee Friendship House, has been serving the homeless, hungry and hopeless since 1987. SMH is the only emergency housing and recovery program in Collier County, offering 170 beds for men, women, and families. Serving meals at the Old Firehouse, SMH is the only feeding ministry in Naples, as well as operating three thrift stores, two food pantries, Wolfe Apartments transitional affordable housing, and a direct assistance program to individuals and families in need.

As the president of The Ascension Catholic Church Men’s Club, Kevin was an enthusiastic spirit who brought people together and had a positive and significant impact on their lives. This tournament, which Kevin initiated, helps us memorialize a man, a friend and a brother who was taken from us long before his time.

All proceeds from the golf scramble benefit the Kevin Calderbank Scholarships, which are awarded annually to outstanding high-school seniors attending a Florida public college or university.

All proceeds will be donated to Guide Dogs for the Blind, a non-profit organisation headquartered in San Rafael, California. They receive no government assistance and rely solely on generous donations to operate. Each year, they provide many visually impaired individuals with the gift of sight through a highly-trained canine companion, giving those lucky people a whole new lease on life. We at Pre-Med AMSA at the University of Central Florida believe very much in what they do and are enthusiastic to spread the good word about, and raise money for, them!

Tee time is 1:30 p.m. and we ask that you arrive at least an hour before for registration. While registering, buy as many tickets as you care to in our 50-50 raffle! After registration, warm up on the world-renowned practice facility with your complimentary range balls.
