The Els for Autism Golf Challenge is the largest amateur, charity-driven, national tournament in U.S history. It comprises of 30 Super Regional events around the country from May through September with a Grand Finale in Las Vegas on October 23/24. One of those Super Regional events is being hosted at Tartan Fields Golf Club on August 23, 2011.

The Tartan Fields Golf Club event costs $400 to enter per two-person team ($200pp). This includes the golf, cart, lunch and tournament gifts. Participants will be competing for the chance to qualify for the Grand Finale which will be hosted by Ernie Els in Las Vegas on 23/24 October. Grand Finale prizes include luxury trips to South Africa, South America and England courtesy of Mantis and sets of Callaway golf clubs complete with bag and customized fitting.

There are three ways for a team competing in a Super Regional event to make it the final – be the low net winner, the highest fundraiser or raise $10,000 more and automatically qualify. Once teams sign up they are given a dedicated team webpage to personalize and send out to friends, co-workers etc…to ask them to sponsor their team. Essentially teams start competing the minute they sign up! Whilst fundraising is encouraged it is not a prerequisite of taking part. As a fun incentive, teams raising $2,500 or more will be automatically entered into the Fundraisers’ Prize Draw for a chance to win a 7-day ultimate IRISH LINKS golf tour to Ireland.

Proceeds from the Golf Challenge will go towards creating the Els Center of Excellence that will reach out to help children on the autism spectrum across the U.S and internationally.

Dear friend,

It’s the kids; we do it for the kids.
That’s why on Monday, August 23, 2010, we will be hosting “Tee Up 4 Kids”, our first annual golf tournament to benefit the Child Life Department at Children’s Hospital Boston.
“Tee Up 4 Kids” will be held at the Cyprian Keyes Golf Club in Boylston, MA, and all proceeds will directly benefit the Child Life Department. There are 33 Child Life Specialists within the Child Life Department. These specialists work with inpatient and outpatient patients and their families to help them adjust to and understand their hospitalization and medical illness. Through the use of play, education and other developmentally appropriate interventions, child life specialists enhance the patients’ emotional, social and cognitive growth during their hospital stay.

Why do we need your help? Your contribution will help the Child Life Department continue to provide services to the patients and their families. These services include developmentally appropriate toys/games, electronics (such as video games and DVD players), back to school visits for children re-entering school, bereavement groups, support for siblings, and so much more. The Child Life Department makes Children’s a home away from home and ensures that children can celebrate their birthday, Trick or Treat on Halloween and see Santa on Christmas, even if they are here in the hospital.

How can you help? You can support the Child Life Department by being a sponsor, a golfer, or by donating items to our auction. For specific giving opportunities, please refer to the enclosed list of sponsorship and auction possibilities. This can be a wonderful opportunity for your company to gain visibility while touching the lives of children and families. For more information, visit our website by clicking here.

We have all been touched by a miracle in one way or another through Children’s Hospital Boston. It is people like you who make it possible for the children to receive this outstanding care. Please help us ensure that the Child Life Department at Children’s Hospital Boston continues to meet the needs of patients and families.

One of our tournament committee members will follow up with you to answer any questions you may have. For additional information please email TeeUp4Kids@yahoo.com or call (617) 596-5296 or (617) 869-4806.
Thank you in advance for your consideration!
Sincerely,

Philip Byrne and the Tee Up 4 Kids Committee

The Community Health Network of Connecticut Foundation, Inc. will hold

its fifth annual golf classic August 23 at New England’s number one golf destination – Lake of Isles at Foxwoods Resort Casino.

Community Health Network of Connecticut Foundation, Inc. (Foundation) is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that supports and promotes programs and activities that fundamentally improve the health status of the people living in Connecticut. The Cornell Scott Memorial Golf Classic is the Foundation’s largest fundraising event.

Cornell Scott was a founder and board member of the Foundation. He dedicated his life to addressing the needs of community health while acting as a passionate advocate for the health care needs of the poor.

The annual golf classic has enabled the Foundation to award more than $123,000 to Federally Qualified Health Centers throughout the state. These funds have supported oral health education, medical records updates, employee training, over-the-phone interpretation for cultural competence and customer service.

We hope you will join us on August 23. Together we can improve the well being of those living in Connecticut.
