What is Academic Decathlon?

Academic Decathlon is an an elite high school competition that includes a battery of ten tests: mathematics, economics, history, science, essay, interview, speech, art, music, and literature. Unlike other academic programs, Academic Decathlon teams are made up of A, B, and C students. The goal is provide a more holistic and advanced academic competition and to recognize students who push themselves far past the standard curriculum.

Where does this money go?

The money raised goes towards buying studying materials, books, quizzes, tests, food, transportation, and paying for registration fees for competitions.

What is the course like?

Diamond Oaks Country Club’s 18-hole championship golf course is one of the best layouts in the area. The course features a creek that meanders throughout the property and comes into play on six holes. Strategic bunkering and 100-year old oak tree lined fairways provide aesthetic beauty for members and guests. The golf course is named after a 150-year old Oak Tree that still resides on hole number 15.

How do I pay?

Please make checks payable to “RHS Academic Decathlon” and mail them to:

Greetings,Welcome to the Ducks Unlimited -

Brandywine Chapter’s 2nd annual Golf Classic

and Auction at Bidermann. We are excited

to continue this event as one of our

fund-raising efforts and promise to deliver

another memorable experience at one of the

region’s most prestigious golf courses.

Ducks Unlimited is the world leader in wetlands

conservation having restored and

conserved nearly 13 million acres of crucial

habitat that benefits waterfowl, other wildlife

and people. Through your generosity, the

money raised at the golf classic will directly

support wetland and marsh improvements

in the important summer breeding lands to

the North and the critical wintering grounds

here in the Mid-Atlantic. Generous support

for our local Ducks Unlimited chapters is the

reason that Delaware continues to be one

of the top ranked states in the country. In

all, over 12,000 acres have been conserved

within our State, ensuring healthy duck and

wildlife populations for future generations.

We hope that you’ll consider a sponsorship

for what is certain to be the golf event of

the season. By doing so, you’ll have the opportunity

to both participate in a great event

and support a great cause.

Sincerely,

Ducks Golf Classic Committee

At PACTT, we believe that individuals with autism have a basic human right to meaningful employment and personal fulfillment. They have a right to choice in regard to where they live and work. When someone with autism is included in the fabric of a neighborhood, that person benefits, but so does the community at large. Interaction with people who are different opens new perspectives on our common humanity.

The Els for Autism Golf Challenge is the largest amateur, charity-driven, national tournament in U.S history. It comprises of 30 Super Regional events around the country from May through September with a Grand Finale in Las Vegas on October 23/24. One of those Super Regional events is being hosted at TPC Prestancia on September 26, 2011.

The TPC Prestancia event costs $500 to enter per two-person team ($250pp). This includes the golf, cart, lunch and tournament gifts. Participants will be competing for the chance to qualify for the Grand Finale which will be hosted by Ernie Els in Las Vegas on 23/24 October. Grand Finale prizes include luxury trips to South Africa, South America and England courtesy of Mantis and sets of Callaway golf clubs complete with bag and customized fitting.
There are three ways for a team competing in a Super Regional event to make it the final – be the low net winner, the highest fundraiser or raise $10,000 more and automatically qualify. Once teams sign up they are given a dedicated team webpage to personalize and send out to friends, co-workers etc…to ask them to sponsor their team. Essentially teams start competing the minute they sign up! Whilst fundraising is encouraged it is not a prerequisite of taking part. As a fun incentive, teams raising $2,500 or more will be automatically entered into the Fundraisers’ Prize Draw for a chance to win a 7-day ultimate IRISH LINKS golf tour to Ireland.

Proceeds from the Golf Challenge will go towards creating the Els Center of Excellence that will reach out to help children on the autism spectrum across the U.S and internationally.

Teams sign up online at www.e4aGolf.com

Genre’s Kids with Cancer Fund is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping families living through pediatric cancer at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Our organization began in 2009 with an idea from an 8-year old boy living with leukemia who wanted to help other kids with cancer. His request was that every child with cancer at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh should have a handheld gaming system. Genre (like Henry with a “G”) knew this was helpful in passing the many hours spent in chemotherapy and blood transfusions. We accomplished that goal in 2010 and have since been providing free gaming systems to 8-12 children each month who are newly diagnosed with cancer.

As Genre has moved along his journey through pediatric cancer, his ideas have continued to grow and have developed into the many services we provide today. Genre spent 67 days in the hospital in one year, in addition to weekly chemotherapy treatments administered at the pediatric oncology clinic. Other children victims to this devastating disease spend many more. Genre has maintained a positive outlook and wants to reach out to other children who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Genre’s Kids with cancer fund has established Project H.E.L.P. (Hands Encouraging, Loving, and Providing) which details the assistance we provide to families living with pediatric cancer. Many expenses associated with pediatric cancer are not medically derived. The burden on families can be devastating, and it is our deepest desire to help in any way we can.

Hope’s Door is a shelter and counseling center that offers comprehensive programs and services that are designed to help break the cycle of domestic abuse. Hope’s Door provides direct intervention and prevention services to families affected by domestic abuse in Collin County, Dallas County, and surrounding areas.

When Hope’s Door first opened its doors in 1986, the agency operated a 24-hour crisis line, but did not have the space to provide shelter. Clients were housed at local hotels. In 1989, the agency opened its own shelter and began providing temporary housing to victims of domestic abuse. Since 1989, Hope’s Door has provided safe shelter for over 3,787 women and their children, and answered over 16,000 crisis line calls.

We are very excited about our event this year and hope that it is a success.

The PHA Charity Golf Event takes place June 27th at The Wilds Golf Club in Prior Lake, with a shotgun start at 1pm. Golfers will play in foursomes in an 18 hole scramble. Invite 3 friends to make your own foursome, or we’ll put individuals into teams prior to the event.

Peace House Africa’s sole function is to raise funds for and awareness of Peace House Secondary School (PHS), a boarding school in Tanzania for AIDS orphans and vulnerable children.

Instead of a registration fee, we ask each golfer to raise a minimum of $1,500 through family, friend and associate contributions. All you do is send us your list of potential contributors and play in the event, and we’ll do the rest of the work! Peace House Africa staff sends emails to your contacts telling the story of a child at PHS. You and your donors have the unique opportunity of getting to know one of the students in Tanzania you’re supporting!

Your participation profoundly impacts 280 deserving students striving for education at PHS. Please join us for this fun, meaningful day on the course. With your generosity and support, we look forward to a successful event!

The Rich Velasquez Youth Sports Equipment Foundation was founded to honor one of the Lakes Regions more avid youth sports supporters. Rich was active in many of the cities youth sports programs. He was an active Baseball Umpire of Laconia Little League and upper levels of play. Rich enjoyed umpiring and working with the players. He got to know many of the players on a personal level and they enjoyed carrying on conversations and getting to know him. While recruiting new players for tee ball, he would share info with his wife Cyndy. As part of the head start program in Laconia, she knew of families that would love to play but did not have the proper equipment. She would tell Rich about these families. Then when she got home the next day, there on the table was the equipment the family needed to play. That is what Rich was about – Not wanting to be recognized for his efforts and being around, watching everyone playing and being active. T hat is why this foundation will make every effort to be sure no child is left out due to a lack of equipment or any other monetary issue.

In June of 2008, Rich headed to the hospital with stomach pains. Finding out that he had gall stones was the start of what seemed to be major organ failure. After battling his health problems for 5 months in ICUs at 3 different hospitals, Rich passed away on November 15th, 2008, having had problems with his Kidneys, controlling his Heart Rate, and Lungs.

Africa is a continent that has quickly become overwhelmed by the number of children who have lost one or both parents to AIDS. Few services are available for these children, whose number is estimated to be approaching 10 million. Through its mission partners in Nigeria and South Africa, South Shores Church desires to give each child the same level of medical care, shelter, clothing, nutrition and love that we give to our very own. With each child that enters the care of our partnering agencies, we are reaching this goal and simultaneously encountering hope amidst the rubble left in the wake of HIV/AIDS. Children that have been abused, thrown away, and left to die are experiencing restoration that seems impossible against the statistics, images, and forecasts of this desperate and dying nation.

Your contribution to this event is tax deductible and will directly support the rescue and care of the children in Nigeria and South Africa.

Unidos Por Niños (UPN) is a non-profit charitable foundation established in 2004. Organized in the state of California, UPN hosts an annual golf tournament held in Southern California to raise funds in support of its cause. We are an organization of family, friends, parents, professionals and volunteers committed to reducing instances of child abuse and neglect; and to helping increase education and build awareness surrounding child abuse and neglect prevention.

Our mission is to provide financial support to child abuse and neglect prevention organizations. Since 2004, with the help of dedicated and generous supporters, UPN has raised over $300,000 exclusively for prevention programs to supplement the annual funding budget(s) necessary to maintain and operate these organizations, which are vital to the future health, safety, and well-being of our state’s children. With the help of private funding sources such as UPN, programs are able to provide children with necessities essential to their emotional, physical and educational recovery allowing them to achieve their full potential.

Additionally, UPN advocates for and supports increased funding to help provide parents, guardians, families, public officials, and communities with the education and resources necessary to prevent abuse and/or neglect before such instances occur.

This year we are hosting the 8th Annual Charity Golf Tournament to help prevent child abuse and neglect at the beautiful Coyote Hills Golf Course located in Fullerton, CA. All proceeds are donated to prevention programs to aid in the fight to create change and reduce the instances of child abuse and neglect.

We hope that you will support our annual fundraising efforts in our fight to help prevent child abuse and neglect.
